What are Flybuys credit cards?
Flybuys is an Australian loyalty program co-owned by Coles and Wesfarmers. Members earn points at partner retailers including Coles, Target, Kmart, Liquorland, Bunnings, Officeworks and travel partners.
A Flybuys credit card earns extra points on all eligible purchases, not just at Flybuys partners, on top of what you earn as a member. Points from other programs like NAB Rewards can also be transferred into Flybuys.
How Flybuys credit cards work
Coles is the only direct issuer. The points per dollar vary by card: the Coles Rewards Mastercard earns at the highest rate and adds benefits, with a higher annual fee to match.
For no annual fee, the Coles No Annual Fee Mastercard earns Flybuys at a lower rate, and the Coles Low Rate Mastercard suits a carried balance. NAB Rewards cardholders can auto-convert points to Flybuys, and Citi Rewards or Suncorp Rewards points can transfer too, though one of those points earns less than one Flybuys point.
What to compare
The points earned per dollar is the main number: half a point more makes a real difference if you spend a lot. For a transfer-partner card, check the transfer ratio rather than assuming one bank point equals one Flybuys point.
Watch for a first-year annual fee waiver that reverts later. If you plan to keep the card, check the ongoing fee and decide whether the benefits outweigh it.
How to redeem Flybuys points
Use points for money off at Coles, Kmart, Target, Liquorland, Officeworks and more; for travel through Flybuys Travel or by converting to Velocity Points; for merchandise; for gift cards; or for experiences like dining and events.
Per point, the strongest value usually comes from converting to Velocity and redeeming for Business or First Class flights.
