They upgraded me with the promise of offers

The card offers entry to airport lounges worldwide, but when we attended they said that this was no longer available. I am paying a much higher fee than platinum and I can see the difference that it makes to me. I also don't like the fact that when you call them it is an…

What's good

  • 180,000 bonus points to start, worth around $900 at our 0.5c-per-point valuation.
  • Complimentary international travel insurance, domestic travel insurance, purchase protection and extended warranty.
  • Complimentary concierge service.
  • Points transfer to 4 frequent flyer programs, including Air New Zealand Airpoints, Cathay (Asia Miles) and Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer.

Worth noting

  • The $320 annual fee is toward the top of the market (the median is $70).
  • The 20.99% p.a. purchase rate sits in the most expensive quarter of cards (the median is 18.99% p.a.) if you carry a balance.
  • The 2-point rate on everyday spend applies only to the first $5,000 spent each statement period, then drops to 1 point per $1.
